A Place of Refuge

Never give up hope! I was serving in the food line at Elm Street Mission when a gentleman came through that I felt led to go
and talk with. When I was done serving I went and sat across from this gentleman and asked if there was anything I could pray
with him about. He immediately started weeping and sharing his life's struggles with me. I then had an opportunity to pray with
him and told him that God had ordained that moment just for him because of all the love God had for him. The following
Tuesday while heading to our Tuesday night prayer I ran into this man again on the streets. You could tell that he had been
drinking and the thought that God had allowed our paths to cross once again really freaked him out, so much so that he
yelled and started sprinting down the street with shopping cart in hand. It had been almost one year since this encounter and
I have been praying for this gentleman ever since our meeting when I saw him again at the food line at the Mission. He looked
at me, Ron he said, "You were right, our meeting last year was a God thing." He continued on, "Since I meet you on the street
that Tuesday I have given up drinking! It has been one year since I have had a drink!" He then apologized for his yelling at
me that Tuesday evening. I later found out that he is attending weekly discipleship program at Elm Street Mission and that he
was baptized in water on Father's Day. God is on the move! The power of prayer, never give up!
God bless, Pastor Ron
